January 1st is a date to set new years resolutions, an opportunity to improve yourself as you strive for this year's goals. I often think of January 1st as a day to start a new habit (although you certainly can start new habits on any day), a day to resolve to be a better person. A day to resolve to improve, or possibly to improve your resolving.
I've had some pretty awesome new years resolutions over the years. One of my favorite ones was to try a new recipe every week for a year. This resolution lasted the entire year, and culminated it finding many of my favorite recipes, as I tried a new peanut sauce (for stir fry) recipe each week until I found the perfect peanut sauce recipe. I actually printed out many of my favorites and bound them into my personal cookbook, sharing a copy with my mother-in-law.
What made this resolution work so well was that it wasn't a 'do something every day' type of resolution, but instead a 'try to do something every week' resolution - it gave me flexibility to complete within my busy schedule.
Similarly, I've had better success achieving resolutions when they have not been contingent on completing something daily to be successful. For example, I often set a goal of how many minutes worth of core I want to achieve each month (rather than a daily total). That allows me to make up for any missed days and still be successful.
Anyway, as we change the calendar to 2020, I hope that each of you finds a resolution that is achievable, builds in the flexibility to allow you to succeed, and works towards your personal improvement.
What is your 2020 New Years Resolution? How will it improve you? Will your resolution help you achieve your VT100 goals?
